Jennifer D. Massey, LISW-CP
Counselor in Greenville & Upstate, South Carolina
Jennifer’s career spans two decades of working with families in hospitals, schools, clinics, churches, nonprofits, and private practice. She found that Internal Family Systems (IFS) provided the missing piece in traditional therapy approaches—unlocking lasting change where families and individuals often felt stuck in repetitive patterns.

Through her work, Jennifer encounters many people seeking therapy who want to incorporate their spiritual faith into their healing. This led her to explore the intersection of psychology and spirituality, shaping her integrative approach to healing. Over the past 12 years, she has been teaching pastors, therapists and professionals, helping bridge the gap between science and the art of human connection.

Jennifer believes IFS is a skyscraper of knowledge built on decades of behavioral science, with an interior that is an art gallery of human experience. Becoming certified in IFS is more than a time earned credential—it’s a demonstration of the ability to flow between the art of humanity and the science of psychological functioning.

Her expertise includes trauma recovery, neurodivergent support, and couples therapy. Entering the field at a time when psychotherapy was more of an art than a science, she has witnessed its evolution and believes that it is at its richest when studied as a science and applied as an art.
At her core, Jennifer is a social worker committed to helping people create healthier relationships with themselves, their communities, and their environments. She integrates nature-based therapy and experiential learning to provide an engaging and reasonable path for personal transformation.
Internal Family Systems Therapy
What is Internal Family Systems (IFS)?
Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a therapeutic model that provides a structured framework for understanding how our psychological system functions in survival, healing, and growth. It is based on the principle that every person has an essential, restorative Self, which, when connected with different Parts of the personality, fosters natural healing and whole hearted living. IFS is unique in its ability to help people understand and transform their internal world. Unlike traditional therapy approaches that focus on symptom management, IFS addresses the systemic patterns of emotional and psychological distress by guiding individuals to develop a curious relationship with their inner Parts. Each Part—whether protective or wounded—has a role, and by fostering a connection between the Self and these Parts, unburdening and integration occur. IFS does not impose external solutions but instead empowers individuals to access their own intuition and spirituality. This method is particularly effective for trauma recovery, anxiety, depression, addiction, and relationship challenges. The non-pathologizing nature of IFS allows individuals to view themselves with greater understanding, leading to profound and recurring peace.
Complementary Approaches: Nonviolent Communication (NVC) &
Intimacy from the Inside Out (IFIO)
